ok, I'm on a cheezy house roll lately:

edit: youtube tag not working for me.. maybe I just did it wrong, who knows :p

Adam K & Soha - Twilight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnEUfeiSKt0&feature=fvw

Deadmau5 - Faxing Berlin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAeAJOss ... re=related

Dubfire - I Feel Speed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvCm-9nA ... L&index=41

I was suprised to finally like what Deadmau5 is doing.. for a long time I didn't like his stuff, but now.. dang, he's got serious talent and some really banging house tunes..

Am I the only one who doesn't listen to mostly electronic music?

What I listen to most now:
Raymond Scott (50's Swing Jazz)
Arthur Lyman (Exotica)
Mort Garson (60's Electronic Music)
Jean-Jacques Perrey (Extremely Happy Electronic Music)
Laika and the Cosmonauts (Surf Rock)
Esquivel! (Space Age Bachelor Pad Pop)
Eden Ahbez (Exotica)
Enoch Light (Space Age Bachelor Pad Pop)
Django Reindhart's Quintette du Hot Club de France (Gypsy Swing)
Ken Nordine (Word Jazz)
Myrtle K. Hilo (Hawaiian)
Yma Sumac (Exotica)
Robert Drasnin (Exotica)
Messer Chups (Surf, Horror, Electronica)
Farmers Market (Balkan Folk, Jazz, Rock)

That seems like a lot when written out. Hahaha, it's mostly jazz and lounge with a bit or surf rock and old electronica.

I've been listening to Pandora Radio for the past year or so.
I have two channels: a "Kraftwerk" channel, and a "Thievery Corporation" channel.
I find the channels will play a surprising amount of new stuff that I haven't heard before... the music genome project is pretty awesome.

I tend to go through phases based on genre & my listening's gone black & white this year- its either sample heavy LA style beatmaker gear or extremo sludge metal. For instance:

Paul White, Teebs, Oh No, Free The Robots, DZA
Or
Black Tusk, All Pigs Must Die, Cave In, Tombs, Indian

^basically the two kinds of music I've been messing around with making at home over the past few months- here's a taste of some metal stuff I did in January, I gotta get around to recording more of that stuff.

Before long the pendulum's gonna swing in a different direction, haven't listened to too much dub or shoegaze for a while... It used to be dubstep until it got boring (it got too gimmicky and took on the kind of blandness that comes with fucking house music) and post rock (just moved on a bit from long songs & crescendos that go for days). Yeah, I'm a bit of a music snob.

Awesome. Reminds me of Godflesh's "Streetcleaner" or Pitch Shifter's "Industrial" albums.
