link automatically in new window/tab?

Postby stitch on Tue May 20, 2008 5:33 am

Hi, I don't know if its possible to do that with the forum-software, but I would really like for external links in posts to open in a new tab/window. right now if someone posts an outward link it is opened in the tab that the forum is in. this means I have to use the back button to get back to the forum. In my opinion it would be more convenient if the link opens in another tab, so that I can stay in the thread and have the link-address opened at the same time :)

That's more of a browser issue, no?

Hi, I am not sure since I am not too experienced with computers. But with other forums/boards that I visit with exactly the same browser, the external links open in a new tab ( I use firefox 2.0.0.12).

So I don't really know if its a server-side issue, but I can't think of anything else, since it works with other forums.

It works now, but otherwise you could just hold down Ctrl/Command when klicking on the link (both in Firefox, IE and Safari).
