Hacking EMX1 remains...

Postby StellarJay[aka Ruso] on Sun Jun 01, 2008 5:49 pm

yup as a lot of you might know, I fried my EMX-1.... it's official there's no way to bring it from the dead. As a last resort I decided to dedicate some time to reverse engineer how the main i/o board(knobs buttons and lights) as well as the screen are interfaced to the main board.

If I am successful I'm gonna see if I can fit an embedded pentium 4 motherboard that's fanless inside and write an interface to talk to ableton live :-D

I highly doubt I can do it simply because of time constraints but it's well worth a shot because it could be a fun project. :rolling: And it would be a super electribe.

Worst case scenario is that I'll make a midi controller out of it. Still not too shabby.

couple of things:
1. how did you fry it?
2. Good luck. I really hope you find a way to add somethings cool to these boxes.

I bypassed the fuse long time ago when I was circuit bending it but now I was contributing to the battery pack topic on korgforums and I forgot to take an extra battery off my battery pack so it fried...
