Yes from what I have researched, the tubes are somehow wired to the outputs. So if a tube were to go bad or is defective, the overall main output of the ESX would be affected.

Gotcha! Well, I mean... if this wasn't brand new I would risk getting a new tube and replacing it myself but since I just got this in the mail today and zZounds is willing to replace it and paying my shipping back I guess I'll just send it back and wait for a new one. Only problem is that I will probably have to wait another week or two until I get the new one here.

Play some patterns out of 3/4. The 3/4 outs do not involve the tubes and this way you'll know if the rest of the circuit is functioning properly. Just go in a pattern and set all the parts to output 3/4.

The blown white tube could be a sign, not a root cause. I'd go for a complete replacement if I were you. Good luck and too bad it started off like this with your new ESX.

If I use output 3/4 for each pattern I get the bassline on both channels just fine. So would this confirm I have just a messed up tube?

Yup sounds like the tube distorting the main outputs.

I will let KORG find that out themselves. Ill just give them the symptoms!
But yeah... eventho I am tempted to just open it and replace the tube I think is best to get another one. Its brand new so no need to fuss.

Hey...sorry to hear about the tube problem. My first ESX arrived and I bought it used from a guy who didn't know his elbow from his ass. He listed the unit as fully working which was an outright lie as the entire unit was dirty and only half the buttons and knobs worked. I was only able to get half my 300 bucks back from the guy, but I have a spare ESX for parts if I ever need them now. The unit is beyond repair with what it has (i'd have to order parts to fix it) so I just keep it around for spare parts if ever needed (knobs, what have you...). So at least you didn't lose 150 bucks on your ESX! :)
